Some of the best talks ever given
TED is an annual conference attracting some of the most brilliant and innovative speakers in the world. It’s very exclusive, but for about a year and half they have been posting some of the best talks online, free. They’ve just posted a few new ones, including one by the founders of Google. If you have 20 minutes and a desire for inspiration or a change in perspective, watching a TED talk is a great way to spend the time. They’re all excellent, but here are a few of the best ones, in chronological order:
- Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity
- Jeff Han demos his breakthrough touchscreen
- Steven Levitt analyzes crack economics
- Ray Kurzweil on how technology will transform us
- Kevin Kelly on how technology evolves
- Al Seckel says our brains are miswired
- Seth Godin on sliced bread
- Golan Levin on software as art
These are just a few examples- all of the TED talks are worthwhile, and span a wide range of disciplines. Whenever I feel the need to soak in intelligent, thoughtful and unique ideas I either watch a TED talk or read a Paul Graham essay. Good stuff.
