DoFollow Added
A quick update- I have installed the DoFollow plugin for this blog. Normally, to prevent comment spam, blogging platforms like Wordpress add a “nofollow” tag to links in comments- instructing search engines not follow or give any value to those links. The DoFollow plugin removes these restrictions. What does this mean for you? If you make a comment and enter a website, search engines will follow the link in your comment, and your website will get a free PR5 backlink, as well as a boost to your blog’s Technorati rank.

Its really usefull information. I will check my tecnorati rank now. If i will get link from this blog. I will also install this plugin. Thanx Ilya Lichtenstein for such nice information.
Welcome to dofollow crowd. I think many bloggers do not even realize that majority of blogging platforms have “nofollow” per default.
I wasn’t aware of the nofollow rule…
I must switch to wordpress fast.
I’m looking forward to when I make the jump away from WP.com as well. I figure I’ll do it around september/october.
Thanks.
But wouldn’t the system be abused for ranks and then the Technorati and other engines would ignore it anyway?
Interesting move. Are you not afraid of being spammed to death?
@Sunil There is no way to ignore it, because Google, Technorati, and others cannot tell the difference between a DoFollow link in a comment and a regular link in a blog post.
@David Spammers hit all blogs anyway, in the hope that some they hit will have nofollow disabled. This blog was already receiving hundreds of spam comments daily(most caught by the wonderful Akismet)- adding DoFollow made no difference in spam volume.
Congrats, I’ve installed it just today myself.
Remember back then when noFollow implemented, it’s because the blogs didn’t have any protection.
Spam filter currently working well… it is quite safe to drop nofollow right now.
I’m just starting my blog so this is very good information…thanks
Welcome to the dofollow crowd. I have been debating whether to use it on my site. I am still deciding. Do you think people stay are you site longer because there is some benefit to them?
Hi,
I’m keeping an updated Do Follow List on my site and since yours is do-follow as well, I want to ask you if you want to join my list too.
There are over 240 websites featured here, so go on and start commenting on those appealing to you.
Let me know!
Thanks,
Nick
Oh, and I forget to mention that I also started a Link Directory with Do Follow categories.
I’ve added the DoFollow plugin to my blog as well! Glad to see you have done the same.
Congrats, your site is now listed on my Do Follow List!
Regards,
Nick
Hi Ilya,
I’m going to have to get this dofollow nofollow thing sorted out too. I used to be dofollow but then I read on GarryConn’s blog how Google doesn’t like dofollows. Do you know if there is any truth in this ?
Vic: That is not true at all. DoFollow simply removes the NoFollow attribute from links in comments, making them look like regular links(you can verify this by looking at the source code of the comments on this page). This is all done by a server-side PHP script. There is absolutely NO WAY for Google to tell that you are using DoFollow.
Why do you think Google don’t like DoFollow?
What is wrong with that? It a simple thing for SE to see links.
I have few a websites all following and on some have PR4, so don’t panic.
Outgoing links can not harm you.
What about directories who follows? …and still some of them have PR 4,5,6 etc.
- Quality of your website is crucial thing if you want good PR -
Thanks, what a wonderful idea.
I think that I will use this as well.
Its ironic that many bloggers talk about this but then they actually use no follow.
Hey Ilya…thanks for this post. I found this info elsewhere, and it mentions:
“4. Add at least 1 new blog that you KNOW is using the DO FOLLOW plugin to the list in the “My Adds” section. (Add no more than 5!) Let the people you’ve added know, so that they can keep the list going! (Link all the blogs in your post too!)”
just one question…any idea how to find sites that do use dofollow, and an easy way to sort them from the ones that are already on the list?
Tnx!
Good to see yet another blog has joined in the dofollow movement
Except of course by the glaring fact that none your links are rel=”nofollow”
More people are taking advantages on this “doFollow’ tags, not that i don’t support the ‘dofollow’ movement but lately more bloggers have to hange back to ‘nofollow’ tags as a result of the number of spam comments.
good lucky
I came to this site through D-List after working on the post to my blog, related to the usefullness of posting comments on other blogs to increase traffic.

Blogger, by default, has no follow enabled, but as far as I know, the template can be modified to change the setting. I am just wondering, how the blog owner can save after that the blog from the spam flow. I know that there are filters available, but how effective they are?
Wow ) I found nice site -> elizabeth hurley
I have several blogs in different niches and after enabling dofollow I got more visitors to comment articles. I also got more page views - that my advertisers pay me for
I really recommend everyone to include the dofollow tag to gain more interaction on your websites.
Nice Job Neo Meme
Personally, i don’t see anything wrong with MS trying to buy Yahoo. I didn’t hear anyone complain when Google bought Youtube. Even though the bid for Yahoo didn’t go through, it will still be very difficult for any search engines to catch up with Google at this point. And frankly, one dominant search engine makes it easier for honest people to know exactly what they need to do get their websites indexed well, and Google provides all the tools to do so.
